Milford Asset Management, a leading Trans-Tasman fund manager, is pleased to announce the launch of the Milford Dynamic Fund (AU) in Australia.
The launch continues the momentum generated in Australia with the top performing Milford Australian Absolute Growth Fund and continues Milford’s commitment to deliver world class investment options for Australian investors.
The Milford Dynamic Fund (AU) is an open-ended, Australian small and mid-cap equity fund designed to outperform the S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries (TR) Index.
The Fund is the Australian Unit Trust version of Milford’s successful Dynamic Fund in New Zealand.
“We believe there are attractive opportunities at the small cap end of the market, which tends to be less efficient and not as widely researched. With a dedicated Australian investment team our goal is to deliver strong returns for our investors while remaining aware of the risks inherent in the space in which we invest”, said co-Portfolio Manager of the fund Michael Higgins.
Milford brings a proven track record in managing Australian small and mid-cap equity strategies, with the same strategy having delivered 13.46% pa net of fees since inception on 1 October 2013, which would have placed the fund in the top quartile of Australian small and mid-cap managers over this period.
The fund has delivered a strong 18.45% net of fees return in the past six months to 30 September, underpinned by a broad mix of stocks with both value and growth characteristics such as AFG, Collins Foods, EML Payments and Polynovo.
William Curtayne, co-Portfolio Manager of the fund commented that, “Our biggest successes have been where we’ve identified an excellent business before the market. The a2 Milk company is an example of this which we purchased in 2012 at NZD 28.5 cents and now trades at $13.00”
The Milford Dynamic Fund (AU) will be open to further investment by Australian investors, targeting up to $350m.
